Summer Holiday Clubs in Southsea
This summer Portsmouth High School is offering 4 weeks of Holiday Club activities.
WEEK 1 Monday 25 July to Friday 29 July
Active Summer for ages 3 - 7 (Pre-School to Year 2)
A full range of sporting and creative activities, including dance, that will bring out the best of summer in Southsea.
Creative Arts Club (week) for ages 7 - 11 (Year 3 to Year 6)
Come and join in a week of creative arts-based activities across a variety of genres including music, art, drama and film. We will be learning about different types of artists and we will be creating our own projects and masterpieces from all arts disciplines. At the end of the week, the girls will complete their Explore Arts Award which is a portfolio-based qualification, so they will really have something to be proud of and a lovely reminder of the week for years to come. Creative Arts Week will be run by Jennie Flatman.
Cookery Club (week) for ages 7 - 11 (Year 3 to Year 6)
Summer cookery will take place in the senior school's fabulous Food Technology Room. It will be run by Debbie Hitchman and this activity is suitable for all budding chefs who love to create a variety of savoury and sweet summer delights.
Please note that the cookery club menu and actvities are the same in Week 1 and Week 2.
WEEK 2 Monday 1 August to Friday 5 August
Creative Arts Camp for ages 3 - 7 years (Pre-School to Year 2)
This is a fun and creative arts and crafts Summer themed week.
Summer Science Club (Week) for ages 8 - 11 years (Year 4 to Year 6)
Located in the senior school's Science Department, these summer themed science clubs will be run by our own science teacher Ms Davies. These activities are suitable for all budding Brian Cox’s, Marie Curie’s or anyone who loves to make scientific discoveries.

WEEK 3 - Monday 8 August to Friday 12 August
The Great Outdoors for ages 3 - 11 (Pre-School to Year 6)
Taking place in the beautiful grounds of Portsmouth High Prep School, outdoor fun is an activity that offers play and educational experiences in the natural environment. From making fires to understanding nature, this is the ultimate for any future Bear Grylls or Steve Backshall.
The Apprentice (Week) for ages 8 - 11 (Year 4 to Year 6)
The Apprentice is a new activity to develop a fresh batch of budding ambitious entrepreneurs seeking to develop their creative insight and business sense to develop a new product over a week, then pitching the product and idea to the boardroom on the last day.
Over the 5-day course the candidates will design, develop, make and market the new product. Up to 16 candidates will be working in teams, developing their leadership and management skills. There will be and plenty of fun over the week and some games and sporting activities included to take a break from boardroom (Design and Technology room).
After completing the task, teams return to the boardroom to discuss their inspirational or calamitous experiences and discover which team has been hired.
WEEK 4 - Monday 15 August to Friday 19 August
Seaside Fun for age 3 to 7 years (Pre-School to Year 2)
This fun and creative activities themed camp for pupils will make the most of our wonderful location beside the sea.
Sports Club for ages 7 to 11 years (Year 3 to Year 6)
Run by trampoline coach Mr Whitelock, the week will use sports facilities across the Senior and Prep School sites and will incorpoarate trampoline, games and tennis.
Ceramics week for ages 7 to 11 years (Year 3 to Year 6)
Ceramics week will take place in the senior school. Throughout the week budding ceramists will have the opportunity to create hand-built pieces. They will use a wide range of skills and techniques including coiling, slab building and modelling to develop their imaginative ideas in clay. Their work will then be fired and glazed ready for collection later. They will need to wear old clothes and prepare to have fun!

You can book the full week or individual days for your child.
COVID-19: Summer clubs will be operating under the PHS risk assessment and each activity will operate in its own isolation bubble. More details will follow to incorporate the latest guidance.
If an activity is sold out, please contact our finance team on 02392 826714 to check latest availaibility. Drop-off will be from 8am - 9am and collection from 4pm - 5pm each day.
