Pepys' London with Jacky Colliss Harvey
About
Please join SPARTA on 5 October for an evening celebrating St Paul’s School’s with a reception and evening talk with Jacky Colliss Harvey on Samuel Pepys, St Paul’s School’s “First Old Boy” and the London of his school-days.
Samuel Pepys was the archetypal Londoner, and a dedicated walker of its streets. In fact, the city is almost as much a character in his life and his famous Diary as are his family and friends. Drawing on her book, Walking Pepys’s London, Jacky Colliss Harvey will explore Pepys’s earliest experience of London as a school-boy, investigating everything we can discover of the history and geography of the London of the diarist’s youth, and the neighbourhood around the school itself.
New readers can enjoy a 30% discount on the paperback edition of Walking Pepys’s London by ordering through the Haus Publishing website: https://www.hauspublishing.com/product/walking-pepyss-london-pbk/ and using the code WPL22 at checkout. Shipping is usually £2 for UK orders and £5 for Europe.
JACKY COLLISS HARVEY worked in museum publishing for twenty years before becoming a full-time writer with the bestseller RED: A History of the Redhead. As J.C Harvey, she writes historical fiction, and under the pseudonym ‘Daisy Bird’ writes children’s books too. A country mouse by birth, she has been fascinated by London and its multifarious history since first arriving here as a student. Walking Pepys’s London is her most recent non-fiction book.
