ADHD: Supporting Young Children in an Early Years Setting
ADHD is often overlooked and underdiagnosed in early years settings, and as a result we as practitioners struggle to identify and support those children who have ADHD traits.
Join Corrie McLean (they/them) from Three Sisters Consultancy for this virtual session to help you understand what ADHD is – and isn’t – and which strategies and therapeutic approaches that may support the children you work with to enhance their learning experiences.
Corrie's background is in early years primary teaching as well as teaching children and young people with additional support needs across all ages. Corrie’s passion is in supporting people to gain a more in depth understanding of neurodivergent children, with a focus on practical strategies and tools that can be used in every day practice.
The session will explore current research and key features that diagnosed (and undiagnosed) children may present including:
- executive functioning impairments
- emotional dysregulation (including masking)
- the different presentations of ADHD (including female presentations)
- the learner’s experience of ADHD (with real life anonymised examples)
- practical strategies to support you with your everyday learning and your students everyday experiences
This session is not exclusively for practitioners with diagnosed ADHD children. If you suspect a child to be neurodivergent, this webinar provides practical tools and strategies that can be applied to many different types of neurodivergent children.
Wednesday 5 October 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM
